You simply connect the Yamaha UX16 USB MIDI Interface to your USB port on your computer and plug the MIDI in and out cables into your keyboard. (Your computer must have a USB jack).

The UX16 has a MIDI cable that is just over 4 feet long and the USB cable is 2 feet. You have to install a driver (included with your Yamaha UX16 USB MIDI interface) on your computer for everything to work.

This is an excellent way of connecting any keyboard that comes with MIDI to your PC, Mac or laptop computer. This opens up a world of possibilities. In the process of installing this interface, I ran across choices that were confusing.

I purchased a new gateway with windows 7 - found lots of old stuff not recognized - have been in process of fixing

what I could, buying new replacement programs for others - and trying to learn all the new programs.

I have purchased the upgrade to windows 7 pro. I have had a virtual drive setup for windows xp pro.

I just received my new usb-interface ux16 cable, and was told I should download the driver for this to operate

properly for a 64-bit system.

The instructions are so confusing. I have several questions:

1. Before installing using the disc I received with the cable set up....am I supposed to download the driver for the 64-bit operation

first? If so, where do I download it to? the gateway 64-bit or the windows xp virtual drive?

2. If there is a service available to have a technician takeover my computer and get this setup properly, where do I go for that

and is there a charge for that?
