Hi,Was this from a Upgrade to Windows 8 or did you wipe out the old OS and do a full
installation? Are there any error messages?
Check the Compatibility Center to see if the drive is compatible :

After the above :

If needed check this -From the Desktop either use WINKEY + X - Run - type in RegEdit
OR put the cursor in the lower left corner of the Desktop - Right Click - Run - type in
RegEdit.
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Right Click on the key in the Left Pane - Export it so you can reverse in case of a mistake.
Save as Remove-Filters.reg (any name is ok with .reg as extension).
In the Right Pane look for any of these = UpperFilters - LowerFilters - UpperFilters.bak
- LowerFilters.bak

If any exist Right Click on them - Delete
(There may not be any of those and if not this is not the fix.)
Close RegEdit
Reboot
If you do not need the .reg file you saved then you can delete it.

From the DeskTop - WinKey + X - Command Prompt (Admin)
SFC /scannow
(space between C and / )
Then run run CheckDisk - chkdsk /r (the /r includes /f parameter checks)
WinKey + X - Command Prompt (Admin)
chkdsk /r

WinKey + X - Control Panel
Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's
Tab - click Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive -
UNINSTALL - REBOOT this will refresh the default driver stack
If needed :
Try doing a 'Refresh your PC without affecting your files' (or changing your personal
settings) or even a Restore.
Windows 8 includes special methods to Refresh (keep files and settings) or a Reset
(new install removing all).
